ATTITUDES OF JUNIOR ASSISTANTS ON THE NEEDS FOR ADVANCED TRAINING
IN  DIDACTICS, TEACHING METHODS AND PSYCHOLOGY
Summary
The paper puts forward a few interesting details concerning the level of junior assistants' acquaintance with the contents of didactics, teaching methods and psychology as well as their attitudes on the needs for the: a) professional literature in said fields, b) contents and specific knowledge, c) inclusion of said contents in postgraduate curricula and syllabi. A preliminary data analysis has revealed the following: 1. junior assistants are not satisfactorily informed on didactic-methodological and psychological problems of university instruction, 2. a vast majority of junior assistants is of the opinion that a appropriate textbook should be made for their additional training in didactics, teaching methods and psychology; thematic workshops as a form of advanced training are insufficient, 3. junior assistants articulate a strong need for further education in  pedagogy, psychology, didactics and teaching methods; psychological education and training in teaching methods are given a slight priority, 4. what junior assistants lack the most for a more successful implementation of students' exercises is a specific knowledge of the methods of efficacious instruction, as well as a better understanding of the problems of unsuccessful students and students' motivation, 5. junior assistants have passed a judgment that graduate curricula and syllabi should be enriched by the contents of didactics, teaching methods and psychology.
Key words: quality of university teachers, educational need, attitudes, advanced training in didactics and teaching methods, psychological advanced training.
